Finished at last! A couple of you were clever enough to find the various progressive WIPs in my scraps.
First of all, about the art: Wow this one was a change from usual. I did the lines by hand, something I haven't done in at least a year. I either do them digitally or just don't use them most of the time. I like the look though. I also experimented with textures and light A LOT. I know it's not perfect, but I'm pretty proud. This color scheme is a lot richer than usual, and the illusion of depth is more successful than I usually can do. I also attempted glass and gold. I was on a roll  About the contest: This image was made for  's contest in which participants were to give her character a personality and depth. As I looked at other entries, I found that Adrinna tended to be portrayed as all smiles and ribbons and sparkles, so I decided to balance the brightness with a heavy fate. Thus in my version, a week before her marriage, Adrinna was cursed by a wtich hired by a jealous competitor. She was turned into a doll and left in the palace nursery, where she is trying to figure out how to change back and reunite with her prince. Before her transformation, Adrinna was sweet and very much a proper lady, but a bit of a snob and not very useful. Being a doll teaches her humility and the rewards of hard work. However, sometimes it's too much for Adrinna, and she sits looking longingly at her portrait, remember what she once was.--- Photoshop 7.0 Character (c) ~Adrinna |
